Hay jump scare with moccasin near mule in Pageland

Mr. J. Sidney Smith of Ruby described leaping from a hay load to dodge a moccasin inches away while hauling near the creek. He kicked hay from the wagon as it rode. the snake slunk back into the lake. Smith recovered by Saturday and recounted the incident with a smile.
