Union endorses Iowa road system for Union County

The Union County Farmers' Union adopted the Iowa law for building and maintaining roads and urged county commissioners to call an election on adopting the system. The act creates a nine member county road commission, outlines road prioritization, taxation up to fifteen cents plus township levies, and work rules, aiming to replace free labor with a county wide program.

Arbor Day and North Carolina Day Observances Planned

The North Carolina law fixes one day yearly for observance. This year Friday October 29th is set, but county schools open mid November so observe Saturday November 13th with Moonlight Schools to eliminate adult illiteracy. Arbor Day also to be observed.
