A family feud over an estate near Burgaw led to a deadly shooting when George P. Jordan forced entry into Mrs. Grover Hand’s room and was fatally shot. Hand, armed for protection, fired after Jordan broke the door and threatened to kill his sister. The killer died within thirty minutes.

Obituary of 16 year old Bishop Cornelius Helms
The 16 year old son of Mr and Mrs J C Helms of south Monroe township died last Saturday at 6 am after nearly five weeks illness. He was mentally defective and had never spoken. He leaves three brothers and five sisters. The remains were taken to Corinth Baptist church for funeral services and burial. May God bless the family and remind them of a heavenly treasure. Electric Bitters advertised as a spring tonic for indigestion and poor appetite. Bucklow's Arnica Salve for eczema also advertised.
