Local Markets and Oddities Highlight Page
The page lists cotton and produce prices from merchants, notes on hens chicks and butter, and features curios from Lando and Monroe including a 75 year old wooden wheel clock and a family Bible. It covers the Graded School commencement with sermon by Rev Dr Marr and class day, plus diplomas and addresses. A fire destroyed the News and Observer plant but did not stop publication as rebuilding begins and a fresh subscription push is launched. A land sale notice for Union County details the lot, boundaries, and payment terms. Also included are fashion notes and humorous asides about clothing and grocery items.
