Two Dray Horses Draw Crowds in Waxhaw County

In Waxhaw on June 17, Rodman Clark and Simpson own two notable dray horses, Bob and Dan, driven by Clyde Massey. The pair attract crowds as they haul heavy loads. Ben Crow, a courteous local colored farmer of about 45 to 50, is highlighted for his thrift, self-reliance, and community engagement. He owns three good mules, has savings, and subscribes to The Journal and other papers.
