Fire at Pittsboro merchant home destroys property
The home of L. M. Womble, a Pittsboro merchant, burned early Monday from an oil stove. The family, asleep in upstairs rooms, escaped through the windows. W. T. Lassiter was found dead Sunday at his father's Granville County home with a bullet in his left temple. He slept the night before in apparently good condition, and no reason for suicide can be found, though death by other means is hard to explain.
