Government to Sell Nitrate to Union County Farmers

The U S Department of Agriculture will sell nitrate of soda at $75 50 a ton free on board port of arrival to farmers in Union County. Applications are accepted through County Agent T J W Broom or local committee members with no money due on application. Final allotments will be pro rated if demand exceeds 100 000 tons. applications close February 4.

Fire damages cotton at Marshville platform

A train sparked a blaze that damaged 75 to 100 bales of cotton on the Marshville cotton platform Friday. Local businesses and residents aided firefighting while residents note a superstition about fires.
