Baptists wipe out old debt of six thousand dollars

The First Baptist church of Monroe North Carolina cleared its debt of six thousand dollars on January 6 1918. Pastor Rev John A Wray led a campaign that raised cash to pay the church notes for the annex and pipe organ and to cover five years insurance. A public burning of the notes followed a missions offering of 86 dollars plus a salary raise for the pastor.
