Marriage in Waxhaw Unites Henry Stephenson and Lizzie Norwood

A popular Waxhaw couple, Henry Stephenson and Lizzie Norwood, plan a February 22 wedding at the bride's home. Stephenson, a Waxhaw businessman with ties to Rodman & Brown, is the son of the late W. J. Stephenson of Marvin and is described as noble and generous. Norwood is Capt. W. W. Norwood’s daughter and a leading young woman in town.

John Ross Reprieved by Governor in Dixon Murder Case

John Ross was saved from execution in Shelby by a gubernatorial reprieve to April 12. Governor Kitchin acted to spur a fuller confession that could implicate others in the brutal murder of Mr. and Mrs. Dixon. Warden Sales received the reprieve as preparations for electrocution continued, with statements alleging Frank Gladden’s involvement and Gladden’s prior acquittal in Shelby. Sheriff Wilkins and Mrs. Dixon’s father, Kline, were present.

Diversification talk by J A Brown and cotton acreage plan

A Good Farmer Mr S A Lathan of Union County

Monroe J correspondent to the Charlotte Observer reports on S A Lathan a highly successful Union County farmer living in Buford township. He owns 400 acres, invested $500 in woven wire fencing, fenced eight fields and added 100 acres under pasture. He threshes peas yielding 105 bushels in 1911 and stored grain, with profits from sale and hog feeding.

Kitchin Challenges Simmons In North Carolina Campaign

Governor Kitchin assails Senator Simmons for deserting Democratic principles on 43 roll calls with 19 votes against the party. He accuses Simmons of violating tariff and subsidy positions and vows joint public debates to defend Democracy across the state.
