Sinking of the Tuscania Claims Over Hundred Soldiers

The Tuscania was torpedoed off the Irish coast at dusk Tuesday evening. One hundred and one American lives were lost among 2,397 aboard, including 2,179 army foresters and support units. A second torpedo struck. a British destroyer counterattacked with depth bombs, and rescue operations saved many with survivors taken to Irish and Scottish ports.
