Died While Unloading Seed Cotton at Monroe Mill
George W. Williams of Goose Creek township died unloading seed cotton at the Monroe Oi Mill on Wednesday. He collapsed at the mouth of the elevator as cotton was moved to the gins. Neighbor C. J. Braswell attended to the team and preparations, and the burial followed at Mill Creek. Williams, 56, leaves eight sons and three daughters. his wife had died recently. Funeral was held Thursday. Williams was regarded as a quiet, good citizen.

Albert Baker Dies at 69 After Civil War Service
Mr Albert Baker died at his son M L Baker’s home in Lanes Creek township on Sunday morning. The body was buried in Philadelphia Monday. He was 69. He joined Philadelphia church after leaving White Plains. He served in the Civil War in Georgia South Carolina and Virginia, later on Sullivan's Island near Charleston. He had been in generally good health since the war and was bedridden only one day. Survived by siblings William and George Baker of Lancaster, Mrs Lydia Baker of Lancaster, Mrs Mollie Gardner of Ker shaw, Mrs P J Davis of Lanes Creek, Mrs jas Funderburk of Stanley county. One son M J Baker and three daughters Mrs Lester Riggins, Mrs MH Autry of Lanes Creek and Mrs E B Autry of Douglas Ga. Uncle Joe is a notable local figure in the area.
