Murder in Stanly leads to arrest in Hatley case
In Stanly County, George Coley of Albemarle has been jailed for murder after killing Lawcon Hatley near George Tucker's home. A 12 gauge revolver caused two wounds, one behind the eye and another in the neck, following a dispute over a card game. Hatley, about 80, had earlier left Albemarle with another man. witnesses say both were drinking but not drunk. Coley surrendered after a sheriff’s pursuit and is held on murder and related charges.
