Vera Cruz Invasion Opens With American Landing
Washington dispatch reports April 21 1914 Marines and bluejackets seized the Vera Cruz customs house and a large city section. The assault left four Americans dead and twenty wounded while Mexican losses were estimated at around 200 killed. President Wilson authorized seizure to prevent arms landing for Huerta and warned Mexico’s forces.
