Wreck Site Hold-Up Foiled On Seaboard Freight Line
At the wreck site last Saturday three masked bandits boarded the express car of the Seaboard freight trains as engineer Ab Garrison slowed to ten miles per hour near a steep hill. Dawn light was insufficient for crew to see the attackers. Fletcher, at his desk, refused to open the door citing rules, and the bandits demanded entry.

Closing Exercises at College Hill School Lancaster
The College Hill School Lancaster will close under Principal C A Plyler with assistants Elulia McNeely and Bessie Helms on Thursday April 9. Morning exercises will be held by part of the pupils with dinner at noon and talks by B C Ashcraft and Noy McNeely of Monroe. Afternoon program ends with Superintendent R N Nisbet. An evening program by primary and upper grades is set for the night before. Specifications for remodeling will be shown April 9 and bids open May 10.

Fall from 40-foot derrick hospitalizes Frank Daughtery
Frank Daughtery a steel worker born in New York will recover after a long hospital stay following a noon incident on the Murchison National Bank building in Wilmington. He fell 80 feet through steel beams from a 10-story height and suffered two broken ribs both arms and severe bruising. Witnesses crowded the street as the tall derrick drew their gaze. Rex Theatre offered the Monroe Orchestra music and pictures tonight.

First Chesterfield County Field Day Draws Large Crowd
The Pageland Journal reports Chesterfield County schools held their first field day at the county seat with the largest crowd yet seen. People came from across the county despite a dawn shower, lining streets for a parade that stretched about half a mile. Chesterfield won best float honors. Pageland won second for a decorated wagon. Recitations and declamations awarded medals and poetry books to top participants. The Rockingham band provided music for the event.

Moses O Ist R Tyler, granddaughter of John Tyler, the tenth U S president, gave up the Courtland Virginia post office after 16 years and handed affairs to B A Williams, named by Postmaster General Burleson with E E Holland’s endorsement. Miss Tyler initially refused to surrender when Williams produced the commission after a Washington trip. Williams telegraphed for instructions and Miss Tyler promptly replied upon receiving a telegram from Washington. W. Hla of Charlotte was here Wednesday.
