Death of Iberia Pioneer John Steffenauer at 71
John Steffenauer, a Civil War veteran and highly respected Iberia citizen, died at his residence on Providence Street New Iberia at 12 30 a m Thursday May 14 1903 after a prolonged illness. He was 71 years old. survived by a wife and two sons. Funeral services were held at the Episcopal Church with Rev C C Kramer officiating and interment in the Protestant Cemetery. The New Iberia Enterprise notes he was born in 1838 and spent thirty years in the parish earning esteem among all who knew him.
