Dr. Davis, Win ner veterinary, reports cholera in two hog groups this week. Roy Galbraith near town has eighty to ninety sick hogs with losses, and M. H. Weed’s feed lot west of town reports infections and losses. First county outbreak in hogs, farmers hope vaccination and rain help stamp it out.
Sheriff Chris Baum and deputies recovered a stolen harness and saddle at the Paul Meyer ranch near Wood while confiscating twenty six quarts of hooch. John Waugh, once jailed for hooch, is suspected as owner of the liquor and the missing gear, but remained at large. No arrests were made.
A gentle rain fell all night, totaling 1.05 inches by Wednesday morning, soaking the ground and reviving crops. Corn tassels and silks are forming, promising a bumper crop, while alfalfa second cuttings began.
