Pioneer marks seven years of local service and growth

The Pioneer celebrates nearly seven years in publication with plans to gain 500 new readers, add a linotype costing thousands when possible, and expand home news. Letters From Our Soldier Boys Pfalzal Germany Christmas Letter

Soldier writes from Pfalzal near Trier in January 1919 about daily drills and longing for home. He notes peace after war, near Roman era sites, mentions Worms and Metz, historic ties to Lafayette, hopes to be home by March, asks for photos, and sends a Germany scene pamphlet. He recalls weather, asks for news, and describes living quarters and local observations.

Wood Community Church Community Gatherings and Plans

The church reports good attendance last Sunday and urges continued Sunday School growth. A sermon titled An Enemy Hath Dare This will be preached next Sunday with communion and a short business meeting after services. Members and friends are invited to attend in the community church setting.
