The report lists daily Mas. Min. Precipitation values for Thursday through Wednesday with a running total by date. It records overall precipitation since January 1 1919 and compares yearly totals for 1914 1915 1916 1917 and notes observer Frep C Kiron.
Rev Van Valkenburgh will hold services in Wood next Sunday at eleven and twelve. If roads permit, a 3pm service at Happy Hollow is planned. He invites members and friends of Happy Hollow church to attend and note pending church matters.
Miss Tda M Stahl of Sleepy Eye Minnesota writes that her brother Tracy Stahl made the supreme sacrifice on the field of battle in France November 6 1918. Wayne Stahl died of influenza December 9 at Wessington Springs S D. Raymond Stahl reported he was safe November 15 and eager to return to Wood. Friends extend sympathy to Miss Stahl on the double bereavement.
The County Commissioners recently purchased an Avery 4080 Tractor and Adams Leaning Wheel Road Grader with a twelve foot blade to keep county roads in good condition. The outfit cost about 500000 and will work on east west routes and the road to Mission when weather allows. A White River Good Roads Club was organized with J. W. Beckwith as President and aims to form a county club. the drive focuses on improving the Tripp county line road and the routes to White River and Murdo to handle traffic and daily mail.
Two WWI letters from George Durrin describe arrival in Newport News Virginia and anticipation of discharge. He mentions 94 days on the front, the St Mihiel drive and Argonne Forest, hospital stay, and planned transfer to Camp Dodge Iowa. He reassures family and notes stomach trouble but improving. He references comrades and the hope of seeing loved ones soon.
Fred O. Lewis, county commissioner of this district, was elected chairman of the board of county commissioners in a recent reorganizational meeting of the board.
Mr. Weed bought 200 bushels of corn from Jas Sikora. Mr. Ogden has gone to Eagle Nest. A sheep lock appears. Mr. Conrey traveled to Winner Friday with two loads of hogs. George Thin Elk visited the school Monday. Most Valley residents built sleighs for deep snow. Cars risk drifts on roads. Our school counts 14 pupils. Several girls left the Boarding School at four AM Saturday and passed the school at ten AM.
