Noted Frontiersman Col C P Jordan Dies at 72
Col C P Jordan a prominent frontiersman on the Rosebud and Mellette county scenes died in Pierre South Dakota from cancer of the intestines. He 72 years old. He served in the Civil War as drummer boy and later built a trading post on the reservation. He organized an American Indian village for the 1895 Atlanta expo and owned orchards at Orchard Ranch near Wood. He left a large bead work collection and was Mellette county first treasurer. Funeral held at the Episcopal church near Wood with Masonic rites.

Two Major Fires Hit Ranches Near Rosebud Mission

Todd County State Bank at Mission shuttered on Wednesday morning January 2. T. F. Tobin of the state banking department is now in charge. The bank had operated for about four or five years and held deposits around $100 000. It was the only bank in Todd county. Slow collections cited as the cause.

Pet coyote may belong to local hunter’s quarry
Art Turner of Happy Hollow hunted with hounds last Sunday and ran down two coyotes.
