Weekly precipitation figures show daily totals for January and the larger period ending January 5. Totals by year are listed from 1913 through 1920, with cumulative rainfall to date reaching 28.15 inches for 1920 and varying yearly totals above.
The Wood Church reports a growing membership and the formation of a Young Peoples Society of Christian Endeavor. The annual business meeting is set for Monday January 10 at the American Legion Hall with a noon lunch and 2 p.m. start. The Happy Hollow annual meeting follows Wednesday January 12 after a communal lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. All officers and members are urged to attend for a strong start to 1921.
The Farm Bureau judging contest at Miller and Blakely ranch on January 21 draws strong interest from rural and town youths. Forty eight sows planned, only about twenty four remain. six schools have signed up, possibly over twenty represented. Backyard participants are barred to focus on rural agriculture, with the prize sow awarded to the rural winner.
Following November elections White River county sees a Democrat sweep into key posts. Don E. Terpin becomes county auditor, J. G. Corder and M. I. Strain assume register and clerk of courts roles, Chris Burnim sheriff, Simon Friday county attorney, and others including coroner, assessor, commissioners, treasurer, and county superintendent named. Some terms begin later this year.
Todd county, located south of us, on December 1 voted 125000 dollars in school bonds to fund a county high school. The unorganized county operates a public system with several noted schools including Mission Indian Boarding School and St Marys, plus the St Francis campus, and the new high school is expected to boost educational advantages.
Miss Matilda C Hellekson and Mr Lloyd O Long married Christmas morning at the Presbyterian Manse Farmington New Mixco in a quiet ceremony conducted by Rev BE L Brandoe. The couple will start life in the Allenment block house with Tillie finishing her school term and both families extending congratulations.
A rumor from White River says several newly elected county officials were challenged by incumbents when they attempted to qualify. The objection hinges on missing sworn campaign expense statements filed with the County Auditor. Details are unclear but the case could keep some successors from taking office.
