Gilbert L. Watson former cashier of the First State Bank of this place married Luella B. Madson at Sioux City Iowa. They will reside at 1213 West Isih Street Sioux City Iowa after May 15 sharing best wishes for prosperity and happiness.
Mr Arnold of Montana, who wintered large flocks in the county, faced heavy losses in last week’s storm. As he moved sheep toward Murdo for shipment home, a flock near Westover suffered about 1100 deaths from exposure and thirst.
The Mellette County Fair committee reported strong attendance at a recent meeting. They aim to lease land for a permanent fairground and build a exhibit barn and stockyards. If secured, the fair would run Thursday through Saturday September 9 10 and 11 with a top tier in the state.
Mellette County officials approve the division of the county into twelve additional civil townships at the April 7 meeting, creating a total of fourteen townships each forming a voting precinct and a separate school district. Petitioners for Black Pipe Township receive initial approval. The newspaper notes widespread overalls use and warns of a looming paper shortage affecting publishers nationwide.
