The French inspection of horses at the Stock Yards in Lemmon last Thursday sold forty three head to French buyers at prices from 115 to 17. Heavy Artillery type horses fetched high figures and one individual received as much as 800. Another inspection is planned in about a month with notices and posters to post offices. Owners should prepare now as prices are strong and well broken horses of proper age will pass inspection.

A severe prairie fire destroyed straw stacks on Brown County farmer Zoellner’s land. After an initial burn, wind rekindled embers spreading across fields, threatening shocks of wheat and corn. About twenty acres in shocks were lost and four to five hundred bushels of wheat burned. the farmer plans to burn straw only after threshing and careful disposal.
