The Herald reports a subscription contest in Lemmon and surrounding country nearing its end. Voters are urged to participate, as leaders may stay in front but any candidate could still win with strong support. Final counts will be announced Friday evening amid close races and rising vote totals.
The state sanatorium near UCster, opened about three weeks ago, has passed the Sarin unl plunge and shown capacity to care for forty patients. Under WE Woodworth, a former physician of St Louis, the institution reports several discharges as cured, including two young women in recent weeks.

Joseph Rickman pleaded guilty in Perkins County district court to murdering Mrs Elton Fox and her daughter Mildred in their Bryant state home. The confession details a night of violent killings and the judge set the death penalty, with Rickman awaiting execution as officers described his low mentality and smoking habit.
An infant daughter of Mrs. Arthur Wonter of Harlowtown Mont. died on train No. 15 between Morriatown and Lemmon after a visit to Minneapolis. The brakeman kept the child alive for a time. the mother continued home on train No. 17 with the other children in care.
A Harding County homesteader named Kimi Wallin, unmarried and in good standing, suffocated by gas in a four foot well near Haley. Workers including Mr Wallie and Mr Bone used dynamite to free the shaft then attempted to rescue Wallin who descended into the shaft to inspect the gas but did not survive. The incident occurred Thursday into Friday, with a delayed rescue effort that proved fatal despite help from Mr Harkand and Mr Kingcae.
In Chicago the race for a Fifth Judicial District seat ended with Leslie Potterbaugh and Charles Craig claiming top spots in a tight three partisan contest. The result preserves a reform tilt led by Mew Sherman and the women’s suffrage lobby in a closely watched outcome. Potterbaugh, the Republican, finished second with 17,260 votes.
