Ames D Reeves longtime Groton resident and former mayor died suddenly on Main Street after collapsing during a routine walk with a companion. Business and civic life paused as the community mourned a figure active in the post office board state politics and local churches.
E Dearborn a resident near Thunder Hawk was seriously hurt last Saturday while raking hay. A rake seat collapsed, throwing him behind the horses as they bolted. He was dragged for over half a mile, suffering bruises and head cuts. Dr Totten treated the wounds.
Reports from Antwerp say German forces prepare a defensive posture facing Waterloo with fortified lines along rivers Archiedt Fendt and Bente and a Sambre defense. Belgian aviators skin reconnaissance and suggest precautionary measures typical of any army, while Allied positions may be observed.
