Court invalidates notes for stock in United Mercantile agency

In Chamberlain a circuit court decision voided 2500 notes given by C D Tidrick in exchange for stock in the United Mercantile agency. The suit alleges South Dakota residents subscribed about 100000 stock. Robert S Vessey, former governor, is among heavy losers as notes moved to other holders and Tidrick defends receiving value. The Chicago based agency aimed to rival Dun and Bradstreet. former Bank Examiner Jones aided in soliciting subscriptions.

City liquor permit votes favor Casady and Owens Jackson

Tuesday’s city election on liquor permit applications favored J M Casady and Owens Jackson Son. A municipal ballot failed 126 to 82, affecting several aspirants including HM Casady, X Denesker, Monson, Albaugh, and Gilson as results showed a mixed tally across applicants.

Trish Tommy Condon Guilty Of Manslaughter In Dupree Case

Trish Tommy Condon, charged with the murder of Joe Narcello after a dispute over a horse trade at Dupree during an Indian Fair, was found guilty of second degree manslaughter and sentenced to four years hard labor in the Soo Falls penitentiary by Judge Carpenter. Narcello's body was found near Dupree on September 17 last year. Condon initially confessed but later repudiated the confession. The case was first tried in Aberdeen by the Federal court and returned to Ziebach county civil authorities due to jurisdiction questions.
