Taft delays Hook Supreme Court nomination after cabinet review

President Taft did not send Judge Hook’s name to the Senate for the Supreme Court seat after a White House meeting with all cabinet lawyers. A further probe of Hook’s record, especially a Kansas railroad case alleged to restrict negro rights, led to postponing the nomination.
