Lee College hosts its annual All-College Party in the gymnasium starting at 8 p.m. Monday. The Mark VII’s from Houston will perform for listening and dancing. admission is free with a student activity card bearing a photo. About 300 students are expected, with faculty joining in until 10 p.m.
New bright colored student activity cards include each student photo for instant identification. Pictures were taken by a dynamic camera at registration and laminated to complete the process in about ten seconds. Dean Alton Laird notes the system aids campus events and book resale at the bookstore. some pre registered students lack lamination until a later date.
Lee College announces bookstore hours from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Friday. Head of the bookstore Mrs. Gertrude Hill adds a browsing section with paperback books and pamphlets and a display case for study aids. Supplies such as paper pens postcards blue books and engineering and drafting instruments are available.
Charlie Mickel presides as president with Bob Floyd as vice president and Mary Karen Lyon as secretary treasurer. Freshman and sophomore officers and four representatives will be elected later. Alton Laird sponsors. council aims to stay connected with students and holds weekly meetings at 1 pm.
Calendar lists events for the term including an all college party on Sept 13 at 8 p.m. in the gym, Sept 17 registration deadline, Sept 20 admission tests, Thanksgiving break on Nov 25 26, Christmas recess starting Dec 21, classes resume Jan 8, dead week Jan 10 14, tests on Jan 10 at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., and semester exams Jan 17 20.
Lee College will host eight Lyceum series speakers for 1965 66. The first speaker is Colonel Russell O Fudge director of the Douglas MacArthur Academy of Freedom at Howard Payne College. He will discuss the United States position in Vietnam on November 21.
Dean Walter Rundell extends a welcome to Lee College students. He emphasizes education as essential and urges students to value learning for survival and growth. He wishes the 1965-1968 session be filled with satisfaction from intellectual and spiritual development.
The Lee College counseling and testing office will be open 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday for educational vocational and personal counseling. Staff includes Walace Heaner director and counselor Gertrude Teter and Joyce Lannon.
