Dean Walter Rundell reports on the Cooperative Study of Citizenship Education at the University of Texas held November 13 in Austin with thirty attendees from thirteen junior colleges. The goal is to teach citizenship across curricula, not create new courses, with district committees to set objective lists beginning January.
Lambdas and their guests rode to Tri City Beach on a cold Saturday night for a hayride wienie roast. Francis Portis and James Satterwhite led a song fest as nineteen members attended. R M Minter said the event was swell despite sitting near the fire to stay warm.
The Curtain Club presents The Last Refuge a folk play inspired by the Pretty Boy Floyd legend with a cast led by Guy Winstead as Joe and James Weir as Uncle Leo. Admission is 25 cents for LC students.
Mary Lou Kirkpatrick leads the first nine weeks with 60 grade points. Ralph Erwin and Glenda White tie for second with 57 points. The list includes top ten percent students and those with one to four courses, led by Luther Haddick and Frank Sawberger among others.
Ann Ruth Schmadl and Guy Winstead share honors in the Curtain Club production The Last Refuge to be staged in the auditorium at 8 15 on December 15. Admission is by Student Activity card or tickets may be bought for twenty cents. Directed by Mrs. Lynn O Hagan.

Miss Sylvia Pearl Stern attended the Thirteenth Biennial Southwestern Library Association meeting in San Antonio November 8 to 10. Accompanied by Mrs. Marian Cumming, Houston author of ALL ABOUT MARJORIE, the event featured sessions on cataloging, technical processes, and historical book making by Carl Hertzog and others.
With ample materials and favorable weather, work on the new college building proceeds rapidly and is expected to meet its completion date. The college will feature gas heated unit heaters, ducted air, terrazzo corridors, glazed tile walls, cork reading room floors, asphalt classroom floors, ceramic rest room floors, and radiant heated gym showers and lockers. The gym play-floor measures 80 by 100 feet.
Phi Theta Kappa sponsor Miss Florence Neill says initiation bids will be issued Wednesday. Invitations go to Otho Lee Stevens Lera Musick Richard Seiver Floyd Deitz Jane Radford Charlene McCarty Violet Pinett and Mabel Catherine Jones. Initiation to occur once all acceptances are in.
