Local students win art scholarship and historical society honors
Linda Norris, a 1961 Robert E. Lee High School graduate, receives the Harrop Art Scholarship on May 11 for high school artwork and Lee College plans. R. L. Williamson and Chester Kielman attend the Texas Historical Association convention in Austin April 28 29. The event features papers on Texas history and a book auction. The music department presents a student recital for the faculty and public with Betzy Allen and others. Clarence C. Schultz addresses the League of Women Voters in the Chamber of Commerce Building on May 16 on United States and World Court Jurisdiction Pro and Con.

Honors Course Introduced At Lee College This Fall
Beginning with the fall term Lee College will offer a new honors course for superior students. Humantes 300 will be limited to 20 qualified freshmen selected by the School and College Ability Test scores. The three credit elective is open to qualifying students in any major. The college bookstore will open on Monday and Tuesday May 29 and 30 with hours from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Books will be bought as well as sold.
Curtain Club Honors Best Actors At Lee College Banquet
James Harris Mike Cox and Mary Helen McFerren received trophies at the Curtain Club banquet in Tower May 12. Scrappy Harris won Best Actor and Mary Helen McFerren Best Actress. Mike Cox won Best All Around Roman Holiday themed event featured a sacrificial altar with a torch. Theron Waddell led a religious rite.
