Yearbooks for LEE LOG will be distributed starting Wednesday May 20 at 9 a.m. Subscribers may pick up at the Liberal Arts Building corridor near the Student Lounge with several daily time slots. Nancy Kelley and others staff the desk and sign cards on receipt.
Lee College plans to expand its staff by eight new faculty members for the fall. John W. Baldwin will join social sciences after teaching at Alvin Jr. College. Mrs. Nolan Bounds will teach typing and shorthand. Earl Ellis will offer geology for the first time. Mr. and Mrs. John P. Mitchell join from Peabody College to teach chemistry and mathematics. Thomas M. Stone moves from Cedar Bayou Junior High to the music department.
Graduating students and their spouses will be guests of the Lee College faculty at a Sunday breakfast May 31 in the college cafeteria. Mrs Lynn O Hagan chairs the faculty group arranging and serving breakfast to student guests and board of trustees members and wives.
Dean Walter Rundell announced that Lee College will hold commencement in the Robert E. Lee High School auditorium on June 5 at 8 00 p m. The Rt Rev John E Hines will be principal speaker and George Gentry will present diplomas. The ceremony will be a single program with music by Patricia Ransom and the Lee College Choir. Candidates include Donald Ray Anders Madie Bassett Baldwin Clarence Bilnoski Joe Bill Birch and many others with Franklin Culpepper Martha Daniel Alan Dayton Darrell Derrington Dorothy Dickson Kenneth Dorris Clarence Downey Jr Robert Bonetti and others listed on the graduation roll.
A group of Lee College art students displays drawings paintings and sculptures in the art room. Works draw from life photos and imagination using pencil ink pastel charcoal watercolor oil wood and clay. Students featured include David Muller Mary Cannon Gwendolyn Mays Lynne Grafton Lois McKinney Dorothy Glass Hubert Moore Virginia Wolcik Jan Taylor Mary Navin Henry Schultze Roy Johnston Jewel Fuller Rosa Gonzales Billy Hamilton Paul Jones Sylvia Taylor Sandy Bogard Eloise Dunagan Marilyn Goyen Nedra Huddle Nora Maxwell Judy McDonald Luella Burnside Sam Bartlett Merilee Anderson Norman Stout Alden Crawford Anna Post Gloria Hall Leonard Neuerburg. Exhibition open to public until June 1.
