Native Texan Hines H Baker to Speak at Lee College
Hines H. Baker president and director of Humble Oil and Refining Co. will deliver the Lee College commencement address on June 1. Baccalaureate services are May 27 with Dr. John C. Knowles preaching. The graduating class is the largest in the school’s history and includes Gary E. Armer and others.

Lee Heads Reactivated Group Of Student Councils
The Jr. College Student Council Association met at Wharton on April 19 with delegates from South Texas Concordia Victoria Alvin Lee and Wharton. Lee was elected to head the association. Representatives included R L Williamson Robert Jackson Glenn Taylor Delbert Derrett and Johnny Chandler. Plans traced to the Odessa state convention in March with Wharton South Texas Concordia Lee and Dr J W Reynolds of Texas University.

Council Assists In Circulating Petitions for Bonds
Student council members circulated petitions for a 450000 bond issue to enlarge and build new Lee College buildings. Petitions were turned over to the school board on Monday May 14 with a 250 signature threshold. Signers must have paid property taxes at the school tax office this year. Board members stated there should be no increase in school tax if the bonds are approved.

Annual Breakfast Honors Lee College Seniors
June graduates will be honored by the faculty with a breakfast Sunday May 27 in the Student Lounge at 8 30. Guests including husbands and wives of graduates will attend. The Senior Breakfast is a decade old Lee College tradition with faculty cooking and serving under Mrs Lynn O Hagans direction.

The college music department presented a Sunday afternoon recital in the campus auditorium featuring piano numbers by Gloria Gay Minter and Claudia Harris and vocal works by Jeannine Hager students. Performances included Chopin and Debussy pieces, Arne, Haydn, Schubert, Curran, and Chopin again with a reception in the student lounge afterward.
