Students show interest in securing spring ball tickets while a broader program promises free meals for all, aimed at improving weekly nourishment under better conditions. The note hints at ongoing efforts to provide sustenance and enhanced arrangements for attendees.
On a Dallas campus April 5 Floyd Shymanski was molded in plaster by Doug Clark using petroleum jelly and air tubes. He endured four hours under plaster while panicking yet unable to move, describing the process as like lying in a grave before later vowing not to model again. The piece promoted Clark’s art alongside campus life and BSU activities inviting student involvement and Thursday luncheons led by Terry Adams.
Delta Alpha Sigma and the Lee College Orchestra staged Guys And Dolls with parallel fundraisers for a $1,500 Scholarship Fund, including a 50 cent admission volleyball game on April 18. The show ran April 25-26, with May 3 and May 9 planned, featuring Rick Johnson and Jenna Cagel in leading roles and a full crew under Thurman Rowlett.
Student Government plans the Spring Ball for May 10 from 8 to 12 p.m. at the Baytown Civic Center with semi formal dress. Tickets are $3 per couple from any SG member, entertainment by the Revolutions from Austin, and decorations and publicity teams named.
An invitational Senior Night on April 21 sponsored by Student Government offered a 45 minute Fine Arts program featuring the Lee College Band Integration Singers Frank Clark and Guys and Dolls cast members. BSU volunteers served cookies and punch in the new home then students danced in the gym with music by the Cherry Band from Pasadena.
