The Lee College Library will open on Sundays in March starting March 2, 1952. Open from 2:00 to 5:00 PM, with Miss Jeanette Garber in charge. Access is via the back door through the workroom to the Reference Room, no smoking or phone service, and attendance-dependent openings.
Dates for the two summer terms are June 11 to July 22 and July 23 to September 2. Probable hours run 3 30 to 9 30 PM with possible 8 00 to 9 30 AM starts. Each term equals one semester of the long session. Courses offered depend on demand, including art typing shorthand comptometry bookkeeping and business math.
Lee College Choir rehearses Kurt Wiel operetta Down In The Valley with Miss Hildagrade Odhner directing. Cast includes Brack Weaver Jennie Parsons Gene Thompson and others. story centers on Brack awaiting a letter before a jail escape and a murder motive. Opening scenes include jail porch church and Shadow Creek Dance Hall with two piano orchestration.
Lee College uses 2 steel boilers with 876 000 BTU per hour output and 215 square feet of heating surface. It relies on 15 air conditioning units and two refrigeration machines for cooling. Coils under the gym and student lounge provide floor heating across the building.
Counseling assignments for the spring term have been issued. Students are urged to contact their counselors and arrange conferences to finalize their complete college curricula. Tests for interests or personality can be requested via the counselor or testing director.
Lee College Curtain Club selects the three act play Father of the Bride by Caroline Francke based on Edward Streeter. Mary Terry reports the production will open in early May in the LC auditorium with a cast including Kay played by Bobby Jack Van Denventer and Mr Banks by John Porter.
The music appreciation class under Mrs. Jennils sponsorship attends two Houston Symphony Beethoven concerts on March 25 and 31 with first floor seats at half price. Miss Monte Hill Davis, a former classmate of Mrs. Ellis, appears as guest artist as the class studies Beethoven symphonies II VIII and I V in a Romantic era context.
