Computer and Data Processing Courses Slated for Fall

Lee College has leased 185025 worth of equipment from International Business Machines for new fall programs in Data Processing and Computer Programming. The setup includes the 1620 Computer and related peripherals, at 60 percent off rental, 800 dollars monthly, with the rest funded by the Texas Education Agency. Courses span Data Processing, Computer Mathematics, and Computer Systems, with certificates and degrees offered after 36 to 39 credit hours in the first and second years.

Dippel Tops Class of 63 At Lee College Exercises

Charles Dippel led the Lee College graduates with a 2.96 GPA as top student at the May 31 ceremony in the Robert E. Lee High School auditorium. He won the Hall of Fame honor and a service plaque, plans UT law study, and stars in student leadership roles. Other named scholars include D Maris Lumpkin and Patsy Fregia with high GPAs. Hall of Fame members Joe Allen Patsy Fregia and Nancy Williford. scholarships awarded by Baytown groups and awards to Frances Carr Janice Anderson Dee Etta Moore and Sharon Cox. Marvin K Collie gave the principal address.

Names in the News: LC faculty and students pursue studies

Assistant Dean Alvin Miles represented LC at a June conference of pre-Pharmacy advisors in Austin. Hollis Latimer attends CSU Fort Collins summer session to teach data processing this fall while pursuing an MA in psychology at Houston. She will counselor LC students from fall term. John Guemple announces a second automobile mechanics course starting July 29 from 1 to 7 pm and a new secretarial course to run with fall term. Gertrude Teter completes dem ic courses.

Auto Repair Shop For LC Personnel

Students and faculty at Lee College may have their autos repaired at savings in the Automotive Shop run by instructor R A Pinnell behind the Auto Ranch on Highway 146. All work requires cash payment before release and only applies to vehicles owned or operated by enrolled students and college staff with valid parking permits. Parts carry manufacturer warranties only.

Mitchell Johnson Receive NSF Grants for Summer Study

Two Lee College chemistry teachers John P. Mitchell and Milton Johnson won National Science Foundation grants to attend the Tenth Chemistry Institute at Montana State College Bozeman Montana from July 22 to August 23. Thirty teachers from 21 states and Mexico will join in a program of refresher courses workshops and field trips to modernize chemistry teaching.

Registration Window For 2nd Summer Term Nears

Goos e Creek Junior College District announces preregistration July 11 to 16 with a $25 in district fee and higher out of district charges. A $5 late fee applies after July 19. Fall permits available July 17. fall preregistration August 8 and 22. Regular registration September 9 and 10. Courses include typing English composition literature government history math and science across multiple periods and times.

Top Student Dippel Leads 85 Graduates in Ceremony

Gentry awarded diplomas to 85 graduates in a ceremony attended by about 1000 people. Clarence Matthews gave the invocation and Edward Ueckert offered the benediction. Charles Stephenson directed the college choir, and Thomas Stose from the music faculty played piano for the processional and recessional.
