Plans for converting the present library into a student lounge were announced with minimal changes. The lounge will include a guidance and testing office a bookstore a dean of student life office a club meeting room a television room ping pong tables and a large seating area.
The annual Lee College gym dance sponsored by the Student Council drew over one hundred couples. Buddy Williams and The Indigos provided music from 8 to 12, with twists and stomps popular. Decorations by campus clubs created a festive holiday mood with a blue moonlit glow.
Christmas holidays begin after classes on Wednesday December 20 and the next term resumes Tuesday January 2 1962.
Alton Laird announced the results of the 1962 Lee Log personal elections. Sophomores Mike Lawless and Cynthia Boudloche are named among the winners.
Bruce Hanson violinist and Thomas Stone pianist gave a December 5 recital in the Lee College auditorium featuring four violin piano sonatas by Corelli Mozart Schubert and Grieg. The review notes strong balance and expressive playing with notable moments in each work and a distinctive Grieg contrast to the earlier pieces.
Benny Moskowitz, born and raised in Baytown, spent 32 years in his hometown. He graduated from Lee College in 1949 and UT Austin with a masters in physical education in 1956. Moskowitz taught at Lee College and later served as area sports writer for the Baytown Sun, also officiating basketball and baseball games. He married Doris Smith in 1956, lives at 1706 Colby Drive with two children, and enjoys HO scale trains, golfing, and bowling.
