Hero movie review falls flat as promised thrills dissolve
The film Hero starring Dustin Hoffman Geena Davis and Andy Garcia fails to deliver the promised contemporary comedy. A plane crash scene brings Bernie LaPlante to hero status then fades. the plot centers on impostor John Rubber seeking a reward while Gale Gayley chases a break in her career. Performances feel unconvincing and director Stephen Frears tone lacks the sharpness of his earlier work.
