A Country Thanksgiving By Jerry Tallant

A personal Thanksgiving memoir in a first person account. The narrator describes preparing and sharing a family dinner centered on turkey and traditional sides. The scene shifts from kitchen bustle to a woods walk near the Big Thicket as the midday meal nears and the plate fills with butter glazed turkey black eyed peas cornbread cabbage cream corn and desserts including buttermilk pie and peach cobbler. The tone blends nostalgia with local details and simple pleasures.
