TV redesigns for students enhance vocational courses
Three technical vocational programs received major upgrades including larger labs and expanded schedules. Industrial Carpentry will replace woodworking with indoor and outdoor tracks across nine courses taught by Emmitt Wakefield in TV 10. Diesel mechanics gains a bigger lab under Roy McCormick in TV 9 with new fuel injection plans. Auto body repair also expands with a larger lab and frame-straightening machine. instructors are Anthony Tisdale and Ronnie Clark. Bevill to Teach Two-Level Sign Language Class
Special Communications Instructor Robert Bevill will teach two levels of sign language for credit this fall. Bevill brings 18 years in education and deaf rehabilitation, holding a BA from Gallaudet College and an MS from the University of Arizona. Beginning sign language covers basic signs and spelling with expressive focus. Intermediate and advanced sign language emphasizes receptive communication skills.

Car-pooling plan aids students curb gas usage
New campus program by Student Activities Assistant Benny Moskowitz signs up students for car-pooling across 16 zones including Crosby Highlands and Baytown. A registration terminal collects names zones and preferred times. programmers match zones and times in a computer and students then check Moskowitz’s office to link with neighbors for rides.

Panel urges reentry lauds LC program
About 40 people heard a two hour seminar at Lee College on August 15 titled You Know More Than You Think You Do. Gertrude Teter organized the Counseling Center event to help students return to school after an absence. A panel of ten former and current LC students including Gwen Altwein and Donna Cryer shared experiences and urged others to return.

Mass Communications course introduces media to fall
Mary Lou Nahas announces Introduction to Mass Communications this fall. The course surveys newspapers magazines radio television books and film tracing media history from printing to Watergate. Students visit stations and newspaper offices and meet industry professionals. Class meets Mondays and Wednesdays 12:25 to 1:40 p.m.
