Lee College charts growth through leadership changes and new programs
As Lee College neared its 50th anniversary in the 1970s and 1980s it pursued ongoing leadership turnover and rapid program expansion. Dr. Richard Strahan was succeeded by Dr. Raymond Cleveland in 1971, then Dr. Jim Sturgeon in 1974, and finally Dr. Robert Cloud in 1976. The college added continuing education, career pilot technology, and diverse curricula, built facilities, expanded nursing with an ADN, and launched computer, fashion merchandising, and EMS programs while broadening athletics and noncredit offerings to boost community involvement. The 50th anniversary foresees future challenges and expanded facilities.
