Railroad Commission Will Take Action On Wreck

Railroad Commissioner C W Garris returned from Yorkville after investigating last Wednesday’s Fishing Creek wreck that killed six and injured many. He will summon prominent railroad officials including J A L Heether Maxwell a roadmaster at Blacksburg and a bridge inspector to appear before the commission. The board can only report findings to the legislature and has no power to take further action. The inquiry follows community anger and prior notices about Fishing Creek trestle and road conditions though no formal complaint had been made to the trestle. The commission aims to complete its report for tomorrow’s meeting.
