We are informed of the death of Hon George W Towns of Georgia aged fifty two. A Democratic leader he was elected Governor in 1847 after a Whig era, re elected for a second term in 1849, and then retired. Born in Wilkes County in May 1802 his early life included adversity and a career in law. He settled in Talbot County Georgia and served in the State Legislature.
