Oil Field Fire After Beaum ent Texas Destructive blaze hits oil area
A second oil field fire in Beaumont Texas within a month killed one worker, Thomas Rowley, and caused about 156000 in damage. The blaze started when a lantern was lifted to blow out the flame, igniting gas and spreading to a settling tank and derricks in the Hogg Swayne tract. Ninety five structures including 75 derricks and 50 pumping plants were destroyed as flames burned two acres before being extinguished early Oct 8.

Special to The State Chester October 7 two romantic but happy marriages reported in this county Sunday. Elderly 75 year old Alex Rosboro married Paulee a French woman in her 60s who had lived at the county poor house. A rich relative left Rosboro 300 dollars and after a railway suit he bought a country home and pursued love with renewed vigor. Rev John Bass Shelton officiated in the presence of friends as the couple began a new life. The other couple, G W Hodge and Clara Hudson, were wed by Rev B G Murphy at the county home. Hodge is about 87 and Miss Hudson about 45, ending years of hardship with a quiet country marriage.
