Bronson Florida September 30 The two young white men Odore Smith and Thomas G Faircloth who killed the elderly Lewis couple a month ago were executed by Sheriff Sutton at 11 12 am Their necks broke Faircloth died in 15 minutes Smith in 12 12 minutes Both faced the crowd with nerve They opened inspected coffins Faircloth baptized in the box by Rev J B Holley of Gainesville Relatives received the bodies for burial Smith had a wife and baby Faircloth planned an earlier marriage but was refused.

New Trial Granted To James Wilcox

Raleigh NC September 30 The North Carolina Supreme Court grants James Wilcox a new trial in the Nellie Cropsey murder case. The court faults the circumstantial evidence and courtroom disruptions including spectators leaving the room and a fire alarm. The case returns to Pasquotank County for the November 17 term.
