Fire destroys multiple buildings in Wentworth street area

A fire starting yesterday morning at Mr Swinous premises rapidly consumed the carriage depot of Me L Ch, then spread to Mr Seignous, Ms Wan store, and a three story brick building fronting Wentworth street owned by J Mowry. The blaze damaged other structures including a Gilbert carriage depot and a hotel vicinity as firemen battled the flames, threatening the Pavilion Hotel before containment.
