President Roosevelt announced he had decided on a man for the vacant judgeship on the court of claims. Senator McLaurin is widely regarded as the likely nominee and will resign his senate seat soon. The court offers a $4500 salary and a life tenure, making it a highly coveted position.
The State reports Columbia will gain a second seven story granite skyscraper opposite the Robertson 12 story structure under construction. It will house the Carolina National Bank on the former city hall site. All preparations for bids and work are ready except final working drawings and specifications by the architects.
