White Man Lynched In Valdosta After Jail Break
A Madison Florida dispatch reports a mob seized the jail keys in Valdosta Georgia last night and hanged Washington Jarvis a white man to a tree after binding him and shooting him. Jarvis was accused of murdering his cousin John Waldrop and another killing two years earlier. The mob left town and no clues to the attackers are known.

Fearful Clinton accident at Thronwell orphanage
May 18 Clinton reports a deadly accident at Thronwell orphanage when a steam laundry wringer exploded injuring Anna Anderson, who died within twenty minutes. The incident follows a dangerous week in Laurens where a Hopkins barn fire killed two mules and a horse, with $2,000 loss and $1,000 insured. In Langley a murdered Black man, Joe Wertz, was found at Langley dam with head injury and throat cut. coroner’s jury attributes death to unknown assailants.

Bonfire of Slot Machines in Philadelphia May 19
Thirteen hundred slot machines valued at about 125000 were burned today by order of Director of Public Safety Smyth. Seven hundred were captured in Law and Order raids and 600 by police. Five months of raids led to the burn. Smyth holds 250 pounds of uncounted nickels and pennies. Law and Order secretary Boney has nearly 1600 from machines. funds to city treasurer. Two fire companies guarded the operation.
