Special to The State from Florence reports the death of Scho ton Dozier after a mule kicked him in Savage county. Dozier, a well known resident, was struck in the abdomen when he tapped the sick animal with a switch. His death is described as untimely.

Feigned Death for Insurance Jobber Arrested in Birmingham

William A. Hunt alias William A. Hunter, alleged to have vanished December 1896 near the Pecos river, is under arrest in Birmingham. Heirs have obtained judgments totaling about 15,000 against him on an insurance policy and related damages. A warrant cites Reeves county Texas as the fugitive origin on charges of swindling and defrauding Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance Company of Philadelphia.
