A jocular Kansas City Journal item claims a man prevented his son from borrowing a home paper leading to a cascade of misfortunes. Bees stung, fence wrecked, flesh ripped, a cow died, teeth lost, milk spilled, carpet ruined, a daughter ran away, a dog chewed tails, and calves escaped, all tied to the act of borrowing a single issue.
Rail notices describe departures from Lancaster at 6 30 am and Chester at 10 30 am with connections to Southern Railway Nos 86 to Charlotte No 36 from Columbia and Seaboard Air Line Atlanta special from north and east, plus No 43 from northern points. Messages reference Marion, Gaston, Marion and Abartotre with No 15 and a final note by JAS M Heath and Leroy Springs.
A correspondent advertises a pneumonia remedy using six to ten chopped onions simmered with rye meal and vinegar to form a thick paste. The hot cotton bag is placed on the chest and reapplied as it cools, with perspiration expected to start. The cure is claimed to have saved patients when physicians had given up.
Mr. RP Olivia of Barcelona spends winters in Aiken South Carolina. Weak nerves caused back head pains. Electric Bitters cured the pain and claimed to cleanse liver and kidneys, purify blood, and boost nerves and vigor. Bottle guaranteed 50 cents at Crawford Brown Druggists.
The South Carolina Medical Association plans a Charleston gathering April 15 for a state wide physician reunion. Guests will receive invitations, a public reception hosted by the mayor and aldermen, and excursions to Isle of Palms. Dr Hobart Amory Ware will give the Annual Address. Board costs start at $1 with hotel rates.

Bids will be opened Wednesday, April 4 at 9:00 am for Bizzie Creek bridge near Pleasant Valley and at 4:00 pm for McCormick's Creek bridge near JM Warwick's. The 12 000 spindle cotton mill powers much of town growth. prospects include a new cotton mill and a possible cotton seed oil mill. Farmers prosper, expecting higher cotton prices next fall. wet spells delayed plowing, as in prior year.
