Special to The State reports burglars struck St Matthews, entering George W Arthur’s hardware shop to seize tools and then blew open the St Matthews Savings Bank vault but officials cannot yet determine if money was taken. Bates & Smook’s general store was robbed of clothing, the dispensary looted, and a mule stolen from H A Raysor. About seven dollars in liquor and other items were stolen. two white men were arrested for questioning with no solid evidence yet.

Aiken Fire Destroys Nine Buildings In City Center
