A Close Call as Barron Shot by Would be Robber

A York County farmer Sam Barron and his cousin Baul Barrons were attacked by an unseen assailant behind a fence while returning from a store. Barron was wounded in the face and body by duck shot but not fatally. Two men drowned in the Catawba river while workers attempted to haul a mast downstream at the Catawba Power Co plant. In Abbeville county near Lowndesville D C Will Simpson fatally shot Jones Hall over mower joint ownership. Simpson surrendered and was jailed.

Family Poisoning In Florence Strikes Mr W D Motte Family

Special to The State Florence June 3 Me W D Motte wife and two children recovering from severe proximo poisoning after dinner. Mrs Motte nearly died, pulseless for a time. Desperate man killed in Bowman's yard after coffee spit accusation

Special to The state Bowesville James reports a desperate man living near Capt. Jno S Bowman's place three miles from here tried to stab his brothers with a pocket knife after being accused of spitting in the coffee that scorched the fire. He was shot in the right thigh by his brother, the lead severing the femoral artery and causing death.
